General options¶
Centreon MBI general options are used to configure:
The report generation jobs scheduling options
The communication between Centreon MBI interface and the reporting engine CBIS
The notification parameters for Centreon MBI administrators
Notification options¶
The reporting engine can notify Centreon MBI administrators after each report generation. The e-mail sent provides:
The reports direct download links
the log file related to the job that generated the reports
This way, the administrators of Centreon MBI will be able to control if any job went to failure.
The notification process must be differentiated from the publication of the reports by e-mail.
The publication by e-mail of the reports allows to send the reports to the concerned users. The notification option sends an e-mail to Centreon MBI administrator that only contains the logs of the job that generated the report.
The notification option parameters can be modified in the following menu:
Reporting > Business Intelligence > General Options | Notification Options
Description of the form:

Scheduler options¶
The following menu allows to modify the scheduling options of the reporting engine:
Reporting > Business Intelligence > General Options | Scheduler options
Cbis properties¶
The Centreon MBI interface can instantly communicate with the reporting engine CBIS. The frontend opens a connection on the CBIS listening port to:
Warn about the modification or the creation of a job
Update the available language for the translation of the reports
Test publication rule configurations
Test the administrators notification options
Parameters description:
Option |
Description |
---|---|
CBIS host |
IP address of the server hosting the reporting engine |
CBIS port |
TCP port on which the reporting engine is listening |
CBIS connection timeout |
Time that the frontend will wait before assuming that the connection to the reporting engine failed |
The modification of these parameters needs the restart of the daemon CBIS.
Report generation time properties¶
Parameters description:
Option |
Description |
---|---|
All cyclic reports generation hour |
Hour for generation of daily/weekly/monthly reports |
Day of month for the generation of monthly reports |
Day of month for the generation of monthly reports |
Day of week for the generation of weekly reports |
Day of week for the generation of weekly reports. |
maximum load allowed to the scheduler for the jobs execution |
Maximum weight authorized for simultaneous job execution |
Report custom properties¶
Two reports need to access Centreon main server to generate RRD graphs. These reports are:
Host-graph-v2
Hostgroup-graph-v2
Fill the following field:

The modification of these parameters needs the restart of the daemon CBIS.
The default theme can also be defined in this part, using the option “Default report color theme”.
Etl options¶
Centreon MBI integrates its own ETL capabilities to:
Synchronize monitoring raw data with the reporting server
Calculate availability and performance statistics on the reporting server
Manage the data retention on the reporting server
Before following the next steps, we consider that you have read the best practice parts of the installation that give advices about the configuration (groups, categories etc..) that must be done in Centreon before launching the statistics calculation.
In the menu “Reporting > Business Intelligence > General Options > ETL options” of Centreon, specify the following options:
Options |
Values |

Reporting engine uses a dedicated MySQL server |
Yes. You must have a dedicated reporting server |
Compatibility mode to use report templates from version of Centreon MBI prior to 1.5.0 |
No (concerns only the upgrade from prior versions of Centreon MBI) |
Temporary files storage directory on reporting server |
Folder where the dumps will be stored on the dedicated reporting server (depending on your architecture) |

Select the services categories that have been associated with capacity type services |
Exclude metrics from service categories that does not return a capacity USAGE information |
Concern the metrics linked to services which return capacity data. Select the metrics that don’t return a capacity usage information, but returns a maximum or a total value. (example: the metric “size”) |
Centile parameters |

Calculating centile agregation by |
Select the agregation level that you want. The standard percentile report provided with BI 2.1 uses Month data |
Select service categories to agregate centile on |

Data retention options¶
It’s possible to manage the data retention on the reporting database. The retention is done on raw and aggregated data . The following parameters permit to manage this retention ( in days).
Don’t forget to activate the data retention using the check box “Enable data retention option”.

Report Parameter¶
This tab enables you to display the dimensions available for a user based on its ACL resctriction and what was calculated in the data warehouse.
When updating groups and categories configuration, make sure to update the ACL by clicking on “Update ACL resources”. This will update available objects when configuring jobs.
Reporting Widgets¶
This tab is use to configure the connection to the reporting database and its current status. These connection information are used to fill widgets with data.
